Lose It Premium cost, and what stays free

By Eric Parker, founder of TrueCal. Updated October 7, 2026.

Lose It has a free plan at $0, and Premium costs $79.99 a year with automatic annual renewal, according to its membership tiers article. Prices and sources checked October 7, 2026, in US dollars.

The tools available without Premium

The free plan supplies a personalized daily calorie budget and access to a food database with more than 50 million entries, according to the Basic tier description. The App Store description also lists meal and exercise tracking, charts, a personalized plan, friends and support groups.

Free accounts show ads. The ad removal article describes a separate one-time purchase tied to an App Store or Google Play account, but gives no price. It is available through Profile, Manage, Eliminate Ads.

The cancellation article says an account returns to the free version when its paid period expires. Our Lose It review covers the app beyond its subscription bill.

The features listed under Premium

Premium includes Basic plus custom water, sleep and nutrient goals, device syncing, future meal logging, barcode scanning, photo logging and voice logging in the membership tier list. The store description of Premium also names vitamins, minerals and other health metrics, meal targets, fasting, diet plans and fitness app connections.

Barcode access has a qualification. Lose It says it is “in the process of moving” Scan It and the nutrition label scanner to Premium in its barcode access article. Some free members retain access during the transition and others do not. Once access is locked, Premium is required. The article gives no transition date. The separate barcode how-to requires English as the device language but names no membership tier.

Help-center prices and the missing monthly figure

The current pricing article lists annual Premium at $79.99 with auto-renewal. Lifetime is a one-time $299.99 purchase for a free or Basic account, or $229.99 for an active paid annual Premium member, with no recurring Lifetime fee. The article says the reduced member rate already accounts for remaining subscription time and reserves Lifetime sale offers for active paid Premium accounts.

The yearly and Lifetime charge explanation repeats both Lifetime prices. The older Lifetime overview gives $299.99 without Premium and says members are discount eligible. The Premium overview says prices vary with factors such as seasonal promotions and app use. The tiers article also describes yearly Premium sales and free trials.

No Lose It page checked states a monthly Premium price. The FSA and HSA article refers to monthly and annual plans without pricing them. The monthly-price check covered all 159 help-center articles through the first article page and second article page, including both copies of the tiers article.

Every purchase listed in the US App Store

The US App Store page shows these ten in-app purchases in this order, checked October 7, 2026. Each item has a name and a price. No item shows a billing period.

The App Store description says the yearly subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the subscription period ends.

What Google Play displays

Google Play identifies the developer as FitNow, Inc. and labels the app “Contains ads” and “In-app purchases”. Its purchase range is $2.49 to $299.99 per item, checked October 7, 2026. The description contains no price or trial text.

Lifetime measured against annual payments

Using the help-center prices, $299.99 ÷ $79.99 = 3.75 years, rounded, or about 3 years 9 months of yearly Premium. Four years paid at the listed annual rate total 4 × $79.99 = $319.96.

For an active paid annual Premium member, $229.99 ÷ $79.99 = 2.88 years, rounded. That Lifetime purchase is an additional charge on top of yearly payments already made. The pricing article says past charges are not refunded, prorated or retroactively credited beyond the reduced upgrade rate. The Lifetime article also says remaining time on annual Premium is not refunded. These calculations compare the listed charges, without assuming future prices or selecting an option.

Where the seven-day trial is stated

The Premium help article offers a 7-day free trial to new users who have not tried Premium before. The trial billing article says a temporary bank charge may appear for a store trial. It also says Apple and Google Play can charge within 24 hours of the scheduled end, so avoiding a charge requires cancellation at least 24 hours before that end.

The refund article says a trial automatically becomes a paid subscription unless cancelled before expiry. Standard refund eligibility applies if it converts. The terms and App Store description mention a trial but specify no length. The App Store description says a purchase forfeits any unused trial portion.

Neither the Lose It home page nor How it works shows trial text in the checked pages. The Premium address redirects to How it works.

Stopping renewal and requesting money back

The Lose It cancellation instructions direct cancellation to the platform used for the purchase. Deleting the app or closing the account does not stop billing. Premium remains available until the current billing period or trial ends. The annual renewal rule requires turning auto-renew off at least 24 hours before renewal.

  • Apple purchases use Apple subscription cancellation. Apple handles App Store payments and refunds, and Lose It support cannot cancel an Apple subscription. Apple refund instructions direct requests through its billing portal.
  • Google Play subscriptions use Google cancellation instructions. Lose It support cannot cancel them. Its refund help article says support can issue Google Play refunds within 5 weeks of purchase. It also points to direct Google requests within 48 hours. Google refund policies describe refunds that Google may provide.
  • For website, email-promotion or mobile-browser web-link purchases, the cancellation article says Stripe processed payment. It says a new US subscription started in 2026, rather than a renewal, was likely started on my.loseit.com through Stripe because Stripe replaced Apple for many new subscriptions. The article directs cancellation through the original purchase platform.

For web and Stripe purchases, the refund help center states a 5-week full-refund window. The Lose It terms state 35 days for web and Google Play subscriptions. Both sources say accrued fees are not refunded or prorated for partial periods. Apple purchases are subject to Apple refund policies.

The terms describe renewal for the same period as the initial subscription unless disclosed otherwise at purchase. They exclude promotional and discount pricing from the prior-rate comparison and allow a rate change with advance notice.

Lifetime purchases are non-refundable under the terms and the Lifetime refund rule. Buying Lifetime does not cancel an existing App Store or Google Play subscription. The tiers article says store auto-renewal must be turned off separately. The terms define Lifetime as 100 years or until FitNow, Inc. stops commercially offering the products.

TrueCal free logging and Pro access

In TrueCal, manual calorie logging stays free. Pro covers macros and logging from a typed description, voice, a photo or a barcode. A 14-day Pro trial is available to eligible customers only in the iPhone and Android apps, run by the App Store or Google Play. The pricing page says cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the trial ends.
