What MacroFactor charges and what is in the app

MacroFactor's help article and App Store listing state $11.99 a month, $47.99 a half year, and $71.99 a year. The yearly plan is described as equal to $5.99 a month. The App Store also shows monthly $9.99 and annual $59.99 SKUs that MacroFactor does not explain. MacroFactor documents $11.99 and $71.99 as its current list prices in prose.

There is no free tier. The website says there isn't, and will never be, a free version. The trial is 7 days. A paid subscription is required after the trial. The paid app includes food search, barcode scanning, a nutrition label scanner, and AI photo logging with Photo, Photo and Text, and Upload options. You can also describe your meal. Voice logging is documented on the Apple Watch app, and the product page, checked September 29, 2026, also lists speech-to-text food logging.

The database is described as more than 1.36 million verified food entries, including about 26,500 foods from the NCC Food and Nutrient Database, plus Open Food Facts data. Users can submit food data through that partnership to be reviewed and added. Platforms listed are iOS and Android. A web app is not stated.

Bundle pricing is separate. MacroFactor Nutrition plus MacroFactor Workouts is $89.99 a year for users who started on or after January 1, 2026. Pre-2026 Nutrition subscribers get Workouts free through January 12, 2027.

Where TrueCal fits

TrueCal is another option if paying for MacroFactor's whole app is more than you want. AI logging comes with Pro. Manual calorie logging stays free. Eligible customers can try Pro free for 14 days in the iPhone or Android app. It works on iPhone, Android, and the web. Sources are shown. Pro includes caffeine tracking with a daily budget.

See TrueCal pricing.

Which one to pick

Stay with MacroFactor if the 7 day trial already fits and you want its paid barcode, photo, and macro workflow, including the 2026 workouts bundle if you lift.

Look at Cronometer if $59.99 Gold and a free Basic plan with barcode scanning is enough. Look at MyFitnessPal if you want a free diary first and can wait to pay $79.99 a year for Premium extras. Look at TrueCal if you want meal descriptions, a free manual log, and web plus phone. AI logging comes with Pro.

Compare the same billing period. Monthly MacroFactor at $11.99 is not the same as yearly $71.99. MacroFactor does not explain the $9.99 or $59.99 store SKUs.
