MacroFactor has a 7 day trial, no free subscription tier, and US list prices of $11.99 a month or $71.99 a year. MyFitnessPal has a free tier with ads and lists Premium at $79.99 a year, with barcode scanning behind Premium. Both offer paid photo logging, and MacroFactor does not list a web app.

Paid-only versus a free diary

MacroFactor's product page says there isn't, and will never be, a free version. The App Store listing says it has a free trial but does not offer a free subscription tier. US prices on the listing and help article are $11.99 a month, $47.99 a half year, and $71.99 a year, equal to $5.99 a month. A nutrition plus workouts bundle is $89.99 a year for users who started on or after January 1, 2026.

MyFitnessPal still has a free tier with food search, create foods, meals, and recipes, macros by percentage, and ads. Premium is $19.99 a month or $79.99 a year on the live US page, with a 7 day trial for accounts that never had Premium or a Premium trial. Barcode, Meal Scan, and Voice Log sit on Premium and Premium+.

MacroFactor lists barcode scanning and a nutrition label scanner on the paid app. Photo logging launched as a beta, with Photo, Photo and Text, and Upload. The company says AI prioritizes real, lab-analyzed results from its database rather than generating entries. Voice logging is documented on the Apple Watch app. MacroFactor's own comparison table marks AI logging using voice or text as supported. Its product page, checked September 29, 2026, also lists speech-to-text food logging.

MyFitnessPal help says logging is available on the website. MacroFactor lists iOS and Android. MacroFactor does not list a web app.

Eligible customers can try Pro free for 14 days in the iPhone or Android app. Manual calorie logging stays free. AI logging comes with Pro. Sources are shown. Pro includes caffeine tracking with a daily budget.
