Noom alternatives for fewer lessons, lower costs or different food tracking
Noom Weight pairs daily lessons with food logging and food color categories. Its price list runs from $70 for one month to $209 for a 12-month plan, billed upfront and auto-renewing. The right alternative depends on what you want to drop, with MyFitnessPal or Lose It for logging without daily lessons, Cronometer or TrueCal for a lower yearly price, and MyFitnessPal or Cronometer for calories and macros instead of colors. WeightWatchers uses Points if you want a different way to count food.
You want a food diary without a daily lesson
Noom Weight includes 5 to 15 minutes of lessons a day. They appear under Today's Plan, so reading is part of the program alongside recording meals.
The sites for MyFitnessPal, Lose It, Cronometer and TrueCal list food logging without a daily lesson program. These are options when entering food is the part you want to keep.
WeightWatchers is built around Points and coaches, with Workshops on Core+. That is another format to consider if you still want support around the diary.
Noom says all users get AI and human coaching by chat. Separately, its help center describes a paid Premium add-on with a one-to-one coach. That add-on has a separate charge and no published price.
You want a smaller yearly subscription bill
Noom Weight lists one month at $70, four months at $169 and 12 months at $209, before tax. Noom says most users start with four months and all plans are billed upfront and auto-renew. Promotions and whether you sign up in the app or on the website can affect pricing.
Noom's blog describes a 7-day or 14-day trial at a price you choose. Its home page says a free trial is available in most cases. A refund may be available if requested within 14 days of the first charge. Renewal charges are not refundable.
Cronometer Gold costs $59.99 a year or $10.99 billed monthly. Its page does not list a trial.
MyFitnessPal Premium is $79.99 a year or $19.99 a month. A 7-day free trial is available if you have never had Premium or a Premium trial. The subscription renews automatically after the trial unless cancelled.
Lose It Premium has a $79.99 annual price and renews automatically each year. New users can try it free for 7 days. No monthly price is listed, and Lose It says most users get discounted offers in the app.
WeightWatchers Core starts at $12 a month with a 12-month commitment that auto-renews for another 12 months. Its terms say a commitment plan cannot be cancelled partway. The site does not publish a yearly total, so the monthly starting figure is not an annual quote.
You want calorie and macro targets instead of colors
Noom groups food into green, yellow and orange using calorie density. Custom meals, recipes and foods you enter have no color. Noom Weight also supplies a daily calorie range. Optional macro tracking is available in the English version, with the UK excluded.
MyFitnessPal lets free members set calorie and macro goals by percentage in 5 percent steps. Goals in grams require Premium. Barcode scanning has been a Premium feature since October 1, 2022.
Cronometer Basic includes custom macro and nutrient targets. Its unlimited barcode scanner is also free, so both targets and scanning are included before upgrading.
Lose It Basic uses a daily calorie budget. Custom macro goals require Premium. The barcode scanner is moving to Premium, though some free members still have access during the change.
TrueCal Free is for logging calories by hand. Pro adds macros and logging by voice, photo or barcode. Logging from a typed meal description also requires Pro.
Noom's and WeightWatchers' medication and clinic plans are left out of this page.
