MyNetDiary vs Lose It
MyNetDiary's plans page puts the full food database, unlimited barcode scanning and voice logging in its ad-free tier. About Lose It includes calorie logging and the food database for free, but its free barcode claim conflicts with the Premium placement in the tiers article. Lose It's App Store listing and Google Play listing both disclose ads. MyNetDiary's plan help article includes Meal Scan photos, diet plans, a meal planner and AutoPilot with Premium. Its plans page adds AI Voice Logging and an AI Coach with Premium Plus, listing Premium at $8.99 a month or $59.99 a year and Premium Plus at $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year.
For Lose It, the tiers article lists photo and voice logging, custom nutrient goals and a $79.99 annual Premium price, while About Lose It includes meal planning. A monthly Premium price is Not stated on the pages read. The US purchase lists range from $8.99 to $59.99 in MyNetDiary's App Store listing and from $9.99 to $79.99 in Lose It's App Store listing, with most items naming no billing period. Every fact here comes from each company's own website, help center and US store listings read October 19, 2026, and TrueCal assigns no score or verdict.
Which plan carries each feature
Each cell follows the company's own pages. When those pages disagree, the cell reports the difference without settling it.
What the free versions cover
MyNetDiary free tier
On MyNetDiary's plans page, starting free needs no account, has no expiry and leaves the barcode scanner outside a paywall. That page also lists no ads, the full database, unlimited barcode scans, voice logging, macro and micronutrient tracking, 13 charts, reports, water tracking, a shopping list and community features. The free features help article says tracking 108 nutrients was previously Premium and is now free.
Custom macro targets appear in the free lists on the plans page and the iPhone page. The home page FAQ instead names them among Premium and Premium Plus additions, while the AI Nutrition Scanner page places them in its Premium column. Our MyNetDiary review follows the individual tools through the free and paid tiers.
Lose It Basic
Created October 12, 2026, About Lose It puts barcode scans, weight tracking, calorie logging and database access in the free version. In the tiers article, Basic costs $0 and includes a personalized calorie budget and database access, but scanning appears under Premium. The April 2026 scanner help article describes barcode and label scanning moving to Premium, with access retained by some free members during that change. The nutrient goals article puts custom targets, including carbs, fat and protein, in Premium.
Ads are disclosed in the App Store listing and the Google Play listing. The ad removal help article describes a one-time fee without a full membership that removes full-page ads and food log banners. The amount is Not stated. Our Cronometer vs Lose It comparison places Basic alongside Cronometer's free access.
How the daily calorie target is worked out
MyNetDiary
The calorie budget setup article describes an initial budget prepared during account setup. According to MyNetDiary's budget calculation article, maintenance calories use the Estimated Energy Requirement formulas from the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academies, with age, height and weight as inputs. The plans page names the 2023 equations for the free budget. The calculation article says an earlier edition was used before January 2025. It describes subtracting a daily deficit calculated from the remaining weight change and days until the target date, using 3,500 calories per pound.
The activity level article describes applying an activity multiplier. In the budget calculation article, MyNetDiary suggests a sedentary setting with exercise recorded separately and says body fat percentage and BMI are not used. The budget editing article allows a manually entered budget. Its maintenance calories article lists subscription alternatives of RMR, BMR from body fat and Mifflin-St. Jeor. These join EER as the four methods in the paid plan table.
The Basic AutoPilot article describes a subscription tool that adjusts the budget at each weigh-in. The plans page includes Advanced AutoPilot in Premium, estimating energy use from food logs and weight trends to update calorie and macro targets. The AutoPilot comparison article asks for food records at least six days a week and weigh-ins at least twice a week. Its Advanced AutoPilot help article limits that version to mobile apps. The BMR help article describes using BMR to flag a critically low calorie target.
Lose It
In Lose It's calorie budget article, weight, height, age and sex feed a BMR estimate. Multiplying that estimate by one of four activity levels produces maintenance calories. The app subtracts a daily amount linked to the selected weekly goal, counting 3,500 calories per pound. The BMR equation is Not stated. Lose It's activity level article describes the levels through daily walking and asks people to exclude optional exercise when selecting one.
The budget changes article says recorded weight changes gradually reduce the budget and reaching the goal switches the account to maintenance. The budget editing article describes a minimum average threshold with three settings, and the low budget warning article says the Budget screen warns when the average falls below it. The Calorie Schedule article reserves spreading calories across days for Premium. Our Lose It review connects these budget settings with the rest of its daily food log.

- Barcode scanning is free and retrieves staff-verified food data, according to the iPhone page.

The AI Voice Logging article describes a shared monthly allowance across AI features. Its size is Not stated.
- For voice, the iPhone page describes individual foods on Free and whole meals in everyday language with Premium Plus. The AI Voice Logging article places basic Voice Logging in Free and Premium, and AI Voice Logging in Premium Plus, also shown on the plans page. MyNetDiary's own Lose It comparison page instead describes free natural-language meal logging, conflicting with that help article.

Lose It
- Keyword search is one of four methods named in Lose It's food logging article, alongside Scan It for barcodes, Snap It for photos and Say It for voice. It says those three tools work only in English. The tiers article includes the database with Basic, and no page read places keyword search behind Premium.
- For Scan It, About Lose It lists free barcode access. The tiers article, the App Store listing and the Google Play listing put it in Premium. The scanner transition article says some free accounts retain it while the move to Premium happens.

- Say It voice access is Premium in the Premium tools blog post and the tiers article. The tips blog post also gives free members up to three voice tries.
- Label scans require Premium in the nutrition label scanner article.
The food logging article also describes entering food on loseit.com.
Paid plans, US list prices and a year of each
MyNetDiary Premium, Premium Plus and Lifetime Premium
The MyNetDiary plan help article describes three paid options. Premium contains diet plans and menus, a meal planner, Meal Scan, recipe import, AutoPilot, an intermittent fasting tool and Calorie Cycling. Lifetime Premium supplies the same Premium features for one payment, excluding the Premium Plus AI tools. The plans page adds AI Coach, AI Suggest Meals, AI Voice Logging and AI Restaurant Menu Scan to Premium Plus, with priority support in the help article.
Dated September 2026 for its US prices, the plans page lists Premium at $8.99 monthly or $59.99 yearly, Premium Plus at $14.99 monthly or $99.99 yearly, and a $179.99 lifetime option. The local prices help article instead gives website Premium as $9 a month or $60 a year. The Premium Plus purchase article limits that purchase to the iPhone and Android apps.
Ten purchases appear in MyNetDiary's US App Store listing. Premium is listed three times at $8.99, four times at $59.99, once at $39.99 and once at $29.99. Premium Plus appears once at $14.99. The ten entries in Lose It's US App Store purchase list include eight Premium items ranging from $9.99 to $79.99. One explicitly names a year of premium features at $39.99. The two Lifetime entries are $49.99 and $59.99. The remaining entries do not name billing periods.

Who checks the food entries
MyNetDiary staff review
MyNetDiary's database page describes trained nutrition staff reviewing branded and restaurant entries before logging becomes available. Generic foods draw on USDA and NCC reference databases. When a label photo supplies a new food, database staff enter the details and a QA reviewer checks them, typically within 24 hours. The page gives more than 2 million foods. The food catalog article says user-contributed foods from before July 2020 are now retired. Registered dietitians are among the reviewing team on the About page.
Daily figures differ. The database page gives 2,500 to 3,500 foods reviewed and updated a day, while the accuracy help article says about 300 are added and verified a day. Our MyNetDiary vs MyFitnessPal comparison pairs this staff review process with MyFitnessPal's check marks.
Lose It Verified Foods
In Lose It's food logging article, green check marks identify Verified Foods added and updated by its team, with a search filter for those entries. Its incorrect food data article says many generic entries came from USDA and members can share foods that may reach everyone. The database team verifies popular uploads. Unverified uploads can contain errors, and nutrition entered by members after a barcode scan can be incorrect. The article also acknowledges that the database is not flawless.
The nutrient tracking article describes an AI validation tool reviewing member edits to missing nutrients before the shared database changes. Who checks foods beyond the team and how many foods are verified are Not stated.
- The How It Works page gives more than 32 million foods and exercises in its logging description and more than 50 million in its stats band.
- The tiers article gives more than 50 million foods.
- The App Store listing describes more than 56 million items and recipes.
- The nutrient tracking article gives more than 60 million foods.
- The switching apps blog post gives 63 million food items.

The information page requires nutrition numbers to come from a source or the person logging.
