TrueCal in ChatGPT
Describe what you ate in ChatGPT, and TrueCal saves it to the same food log you see on iPhone, Android and the web.
TrueCal is not in the ChatGPT plugin directory yet. On ChatGPT Plus or a higher plan, you can add it yourself on the web today.

Use the app for photos and barcodes
Meal logging in ChatGPT is text only. Use the TrueCal app for photo logging, barcode scanning, repeat meal and copy day.

Do I need TrueCal Pro?
Free TrueCal accounts get 3 AI meal logs in ChatGPT for the life of the account. An attempt counts once processing starts, even if no meal is saved. After those logs, AI logging needs Pro. Free accounts show calories but not macros. Accounts created in ChatGPT get no trial. See TrueCal plans.
Which ChatGPT plan do I need?
Developer mode needs ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu, on the web. This is separate from your TrueCal plan. See OpenAI's developer mode guide.
Connect TrueCal to ChatGPT
Setup steps as of October 2026, from OpenAI's developer mode guide.
- Open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
- Open ChatGPT plugins and select the plus button.
- Enter a name, a description and the MCP URL
https://app.truecal.com/mcp. - Sign in with the Google account that uses the same email as your TrueCal login, or create a TrueCal account from ChatGPT.
- In a chat, choose Developer mode from the plus menu.

Privacy and your data
ChatGPT receives your request and TrueCal's replies. TrueCal receives the requests the assistant sends to it, not your full conversations. TrueCal stores food logs, including meal descriptions and nutrition estimates.
When you log a meal, TrueCal sends what you type to OpenAI to create the estimate. Meal descriptions may also go to TypeSafe to help match foods to nutrition sources. Progress requests can include relevant parts of your log, such as your weight trend or synced health data. See the AI processing details and service providers in the privacy policy.
To disconnect TrueCal in ChatGPT, follow OpenAI's Connected apps in ChatGPT instructions.
To delete your TrueCal data, delete your account in Settings. TrueCal deactivates it right away and deletes your account data, food log and synced health data from active systems. Limited records remain where needed, including subscription and payment records and security logs. Backups are removed on their normal schedule. See retention and deletion. Yes. To connect TrueCal through developer mode, you need ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu on the web.

Sign in with the Google account that uses the same email as your TrueCal login, or create a TrueCal account from ChatGPT.
Does it work on my phone?
The ChatGPT custom connector uses developer mode on the web. You can use the TrueCal iPhone and Android apps for your food log.
