The TrueCal team

The TrueCal team writes and checks TrueCal's guides. Our guides explain research about food tracking and nutrition, with links that let you read the evidence behind each factual claim.

Meet Eric Parker, founder of TrueCal.

Research and writing

We begin with primary sources. For research articles, that means the original studies. The article's citations connect statements to the studies that support them, and its sources section collects the references for readers who want to look more closely.

We draft articles with AI assistance from primary studies.

AI assistance is part of drafting. We also check the draft against its sources. The wording matters as much as the numbers, because a research finding can lose its meaning when it is summarized too broadly.

Checking the evidence

A separate review compares each factual claim with the source it cites. We describe study findings as findings, without promising the same result for a reader. Our guides are educational. They do not provide medical advice, a diagnosis, or a personal treatment plan.

The publication date and the sources checked date appear on each article. The sources checked date tells you when we checked the evidence while writing or updating that page.

Questions and corrections

If something looks wrong, email hi@truecal.com with the guide's address and the statement you want us to check. Include a source link if you have one.

Our editorial policy explains these writing and review steps. Browse the guides to find an article and its references.
